Simone McLeod

Simone McLeod, an Ojibwe artist hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, was born in 1962 and is a member of the Pasqua First Nation in Saskatchewan. She embarked on her artistic journey at the age of thirteen, initially dabbling in various mediums like pencil, ink, charcoal, and pastels, primarily focusing on human portraits and some wildlife. However, she didn't fully embrace painting until later in life.
Simone's art is deeply personal, reflecting her belief that the timing had to be right for her to pour her soul into her creations. She describes each of her paintings as containing a piece of her essence and considers them silent prayers of hope for the future. Her Ojibwe name, "Earth Blanket," reflects her connection to the natural world, encompassing all that covers the earth, including grass, flowers, and trees.
Simone's artwork has garnered international acclaim, finding its way into collections across the globe, from the Netherlands to Japan, and from Austria to South Africa. Her work is not only appreciated by international collectors but also by local private and corporate collectors. Currently, Simone resides in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where she dedicates her time to painting and continues to share her heartfelt creations with the world.
