Gordon Fiddler (1958–2021), born in Cochenour, Ontario, Canada, was a remarkable artist whose creative journey was deeply rooted in his Anishinaabe heritage. Demonstrating a natural talent from an early age, Fiddler began crafting posters and signs for local grocery stores, honing his skills with dedication.

Encouragement from an elementary school teacher fueled his exploration of artistic talents throughout his formative years. Fiddler's artistry beautifully captures traditional Anishinaabe images, reflecting his cultural heritage and profound connection to his roots. Beyond traditional paintings, his designs adorn blankets, clothing, and various objects, contributing to the world's appreciation of Indigenous artistry. His artistic journey has graced renowned exhibition spaces worldwide, including the prestigious Château Laurier in Ottawa and The Canadian Gallery in Vancouver. His work transcends borders, reaching audiences in Australia, Scotland, and Germany.

In 2018, Fiddler joined forces with Rolf Bouman in the Friends United initiative, a collaboration inspired by their shared vision of promoting Indigenous art and culture. Initiated through their mutual friend, the late Jay Bell Redbird, this partnership aims to continue showcasing their work and sharing First Nations culture globally. Even after his passing in 2021, Gordon Fiddler's art remains a testament to his creative brilliance and cultural heritage, serving as an inspiration for Indigenous artists and enthusiasts alike.
